Erin McSherry, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
Qualified Supervisor for Social Work

I obtained my MSW in 2008 and spent my beginning years as a developing social worker in a variety of work environments. These included residential treatment, child welfare, in-home family counseling, school and military settings. I began a private practice about nine years ago in Hawaii and found a love and passion for the role of therapist. I feel very strongly about the healing power of therapy and the therapeutic relationship.

I am proud of my experience as a social worker and therapist but the most influential factor in my clinical development has been my experience as a human! While my style and philosophy continue to evolve as I do, my motivation and goals remain consistent. I am dedicated to providing all of my clients with compassionate and empathetic support and always a non-judgemental space. I recognize that each family history, structure and dynamic is unique and so should be their therapeutic approach. While I believe that YOU are the only expert in your life, I can help guide you to solutions by offering a fresh perspective consisting of ideas and suggestions based on my experience.

My extensive experience with youth and their families has allowed me to feel well versed in family systems therapy. Currently, I utilize this knowledge to support teens, parents, couples and other adults interested in processing, exploring and/or healing from familial relationships. To further inform my clinical development, I became a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) in 2019. I strive to help clients process, heal and understand the lasting impact of small and/or large traumas they have been subject to. I aim to explore negative self-beliefs that have been carried throughout life; helping to understand origins, working to build a more positive self-image and cultivating a greater sense of self-worth.

While therapy can be emotionally demanding at times, I hope clients can leave sessions with a greater sense of peace and self-understanding. Often times, sessions are utilized to discuss problems or shortcomings clients may be facing, but it is also important to me that clients leave with a greater understanding of their strengths and a renewed obligation to self-care.
