Alyssa Sloan, MA, RMHCI

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Life can present all kinds of challenges for children and the adults who love them. My goal is to meet you and your child where you're at while providing practical tools for growth and a safe, non-judgmental space to work through the difficulties you're facing.

With a diverse background in community agencies and nonprofits, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients both as a counselor and as a registered behavior technician. I have worked with kids and teens who are coping with a variety of concerns such as grief, anxiety, behavioral issues, family changes, trauma, ADHD, and Autism, and I am trained as an adoption competent therapist. With younger children, I use child-centered play therapy to help them process big feelings and develop coping skills. With teens, I take a person-centered approach while pulling from CBT and other interventions in order to connect and foster greater self-awareness and problem solving skills. I believe in working collaboratively with parents and will involve you in your child's journey at every step.

I earned my Bachelor's in psychology from the University of South Carolina and my Master's in mental health counseling at the University of Central Florida. I am currently a registered mental health counseling intern, working towards full licensure as a mental health counselor and certification as a registered play therapist.
